OPEN RECREATION POLICY

 

The Rec Sports Complex is an outdoor facility consisting of nine fields, 15 tennis courts, fast and slow-pitch batting cages and the Oconee Forest.  This facility is intended for the use of UGA student, faculty and staff.

 

Informal recreation opportunities are available for UGA-affiliated patrons, schedule permitting, on a first-come, first-serve basis at the Rec Sports Complex.  Individuals may not use it for personal coaching or instructional purposes. Organized activities other than those approved by the Department of Recreational Sports are prohibited. 

 

Open recreation is not permitted for community and non-UGA Affiliated individuals and groups.  The Rec Sports Staff will monitor activity and reserve the right to ask for University identification, i.e., checking the individual's UGACard.  The UGACard is non-transferable, and any individual who uses the ID card of another person or who allows his or her card to be used by someone else is subject to disciplinary action and could forfeit recreational privileges at the Rec Sports Complex. Upon request, the UGACard must be shown to University officials. Giving false or incomplete information on the ID request form by a student and/or witness is a violation of University policy and subject to disciplinary action.

 

Open recreation opportunities may be limited to due to scheduled special events, intramural sports program, academic P.E. classes and maintenance projects.  Semester schedules for the fields and tennis courts can be found at http://www.recsports.uga.edu/fields_tennis.php.

Modification of Recreational Sports Facilities and Equipment is not permitted.  Patrons are not authorized to move any outdoor equipment, such as goals, due to the risk of injury.

 

Fields are subject to closure under the following conditions:
  • Inclement weather, i.e. rain, ice, etc.
  • Rest and/or rotation of the fields, in an effort to prolong playing conditions and activity
  • Field repair and maintenance


The Rec Sports Staff will notify patrons of field closures and will direct patrons to available open recreation spaces.  Notification of the temporary closing of a field for more than one week will be posted on the Rec Sports Web site.


FIELD COMPLEX RULES

NO:

  • alcohol
  • tobacco products
  • archery
  • golf
  • littering
  • glass containers
  • cars, trucks or recreational vehicles on fields
  • animals on the fields

Dogs must be on a leash in other areas.

RESERVATION AND FIELD POLICIES

  • All groups must comply with the request of the Rec Sports Staff, especially during emergency medical or severe weather situations.
  • All visitors are responsible for their actions in relation to the activity at the Complex.
  • All groups are expected to assist with the clean up after the function/event.
